Detail: The 2006 International WorkBoat Show has come and gone, and now is a good time for some reflection. For the Gulf Coast workboat industry, the show turned out to be a reunion of sorts. And for those that suffered through Katrina, it was also a healing experience — another indication that things are getting back to normal. For many it was first time they had seen each other in two years, the last time the show was held in New Orleans. It was great to see the aisles bustling with people, with most happy that the show had returned to New Orleans. It was good for the city, the state, and for the thousands of people that live in the area that are a part of the workboat industry. It was great to see familiar faces. As for the show, it was by all accounts a big success. Optimism ruled during the three days at the Morial Convention Center. And this isn't solely based on what I observed. It is also based on feedback I received from exhibitors, attendees, speakers, etc. Business is good, they said, both overall and at the show. http://www.workboat.com/editcalendar/ |
