Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play an extremely important role in today's global economies. A vibrant SME sector contributes to job creation, and has always been a strong engine of economic growth.

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) organises an annual exhibition to help SMEs explore international market opportunities - World SME Expo. The event is a platform for SME service providers to showcase their services and business solutions for the unique needs of SMEs. It is also an international SME marketplace for networking, business matching, and exchange of ideas and inspiration.

Both private enterprises and public bodies are invited to exhibit at the event. A broad range will be present, including overseas and mainland private enterprises, trade promotion organisations, consulates, trade commissions, international chambers and world trade organisations.

Over 30,000 SMEs from different product and service sectors are expected to attend World SME Expo. They will include owners, directors, senior executives, marketing managers, financial controllers, entrepreneurs, new business start-up executives and those who want to seize the opportunities of Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) and China's accession to World Trade Organisation (WTO) to enter the mainland market. In addition, private enterprises, foreign trade promotion organisations, department stores from major provinces and municipalities, industry associations and SMEs from around the world will also visit the Expo to conduct business discussions and form partnerships with Hong Kong SMEs.
